Abandoned
mines are everywhere in this area. Here, I was struck by the contrast
between ruin (the building) and renewal (the fireweed). The miners
are long gone, but perhaps their hopes live on in a beauty that
could almost be considered timeless.
"Therefore
we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying,
yet our inner man is being renewed day by day."
